Open Purple Network

OPuN

An open, consent-based network connecting Persons with Disabilities to jobs, learning and finance, on any platform.

Stewarded by Enable India, a disability-sector non-profit, as an open public good.

Why OPuN

Livelihood services for Persons with Disabilities don't talk to each other

01

Services are split across separate portals, NGOs and employers that don't interoperate.

02

Employers can't easily find or verify talent. Candidates re-enter their profile on every portal.

03

Disability data is sensitive, protected by the RPwD Act 2016 and the DPDP Act 2023, yet it is often over-shared.

UPI did it for payments. ONDC did it for commerce. The purple economy needs the same open rail.

How it works

Any seeker app, any provider app

Seeker apps and provider apps connect through a shared network core. Every message is signed, and every participant is listed in an open registry.

Seeker apps

Where candidates and learners build a profile, discover opportunities and apply.

Network core

  • Beckn Protocol 2.0, signed messages
  • Network adaptors and gateway
  • Participant registry on DeDi

Provider apps

Where employers, training providers and lenders publish opportunities and manage applications.

Trust layer: identity, verifiable credentials and consent, shared by every app on the network.

Domains

Three domains, one network

Jobs

Jobs, internships and project work, from discovery to joining.

Livelihood 1.0.0

Learning

Courses (online, offline, hybrid), enrolment, progress and certificates.

Learning v1

Loans

Loan products, applications and status updates, with credential-backed eligibility.

Loan v1

One identity, one consent model, one wallet: course, then certificate, then job, then loan, without registering again. New domains plug in as schema packs, with no change to Beckn Core.

What sets OPuN apart

Built on open standards

Beckn 2.0 native

A domain extension of Beckn Protocol Core v2.0.0, with signed messages and catalog-based discovery.

Open registry

Participants are listed on DeDi, so other open networks can discover them and verify their keys.

Verifiable credentials

OpenID4VCI and OpenID4VP with SD-JWT and did:web. A candidate shares one fact, not the full record.

Multi-domain

Jobs, learning and loans share the same rails, identity and consent model.

Portable

Runs in any cloud. Any government, NGO or company can operate a network.

AI-agent ready

Every network action is a well-defined intent that software agents can call.

Reference apps

OPuNgram

Seeker app: profile, discovery, applications, wallet and credentials.

OPuNseva

Provider and employer app: job postings, applicant pipeline, offers, courses and loans.

Enable India's own iEnablegram and iEnableseva apps run on the same network. The reference apps are tested against WCAG 2.2 AA for screen readers, low vision and reduced motion.

Digital Public Good

Open, royalty-free, for anyone to use

The OPuN specification is published under the Apache License 2.0 and is being prepared for the Digital Public Goods registry.

What's inside

Beckn 2.0 schema packs (JSON-LD), the full API lifecycle with example payloads, and a verifiable-credential profile.

SDG alignment

SDG 8 (targets 8.5, 8.6, 8.10): decent work for all, including persons with disabilities. SDG 10 (10.2, 10.3): inclusion and equal opportunity.

SDG and DPG evidence

Schemas

JSON-LD contexts, vocabularies and attribute packs for every domain, served from this site.

Get involved

Three ways to engage

Adopt the specification

Build your own app or network on the open OPuN specification and stay compatible with every other participant.

Run a network

Deploy the full stack in your own cloud, under your brand, for your state or country.

Federate

Networks discover each other through DeDi, so participants are shared, not duplicated.

To propose a change to the specification, open an issue on GitHub. To talk about adopting OPuN, contact Enable India.
